In late 2023, Save the Graves received a Veterans TOT mini grant to perform several veterans-related cemetery projects in Placerville Union Cemetery.
Four work-days were held in 2024 with a mix of volunteers from the local LDS church, two El Dorado Hills-based youth service groups, the Odd Fellows, and assorted Save the Graves volunteers. An estimated 150 veteran headstones were cleaned and roughly three dozen were straightened. No new broken veteran headstones were encountered in Union Cemetery. (The one known broken veteran headstone (Henry Leifeld) was repaired as part of Save the Graves’ 2022 Headstone Repair Project.)
