Union Cemetery is looking good. In 2024, volunteers cleaned well over 100 headstones. Let’s focus on tackling the remaining lichen-encrusted historic headstones.
We’ll start with a brief history of Union Cemetery, followed by a demonstration of safe cleaning techniques. Headstone cleaning is satisfying and important work.
Details: Supervisors will be on hand to show volunteers VA-approved, safe, headstone cleaning techniques. Cleaning supplies will be provided but if you can, please bring gloves. All ages are welcome. Snacks and water will also be provided. Advance registration required.
Wear: sun hat, work clothes and sturdy shoes. Terrain is irregular.
