NEW DATE - Work Party in Placerville Union Cemetery

Join us on Saturday, March 28th for our first work party of the year. We’ll be concentrating on a few different activities:

1) Headstone cleaning in targeted sections.

2) Stick/debris pickup throughout the cemetery.

3) Railing painting – task involves sanding/priming/painting so appropriate clothes are a necessity.

We’ll start with a brief history of Union Cemetery, followed by a demonstration of safe headstone cleaning techniques. We’ll then organize into work groups focused on one of the 3 activities above.

Details: Supervisors will be on hand to show volunteers VA-approved, safe, headstone cleaning techniques. All supplies will be provided but if you can, please bring gloves. All ages are welcome. Snacks and water will also be provided. Advance registration required.

Wear: sun hat, work clothes and sturdy shoes. Terrain is irregular.

In consideration for being permitted to participate in the project, I hereby agree for myself, my heirs, administrators, executors and assigns, that I shall indemnify and hold harmless El Dorado County / Save the Graves, their officers, agents and employees, from any and all claims, demands, actions or suits arising out of or in connection with my participation in the project.

Work on this project may involve risks and hazards associated with the following: the use of tools and other construction related equipment; working around other participants who may not be accustomed to the type of labor or the tools and equipment associated with it; working in remote areas; working in mountainous, back country, or other urban or rural terrain that may be uneven, rocky and otherwise hazardous, or where animals, reptiles, insects and other living things may pose a risk of injury; and other risks and hazards that may not be described here or may not be apparent from the project description.

The County and Save the Graves do not make any representation regarding the background, safety or experience of any of the volunteers who may work on this project, including any persons or operators who have assumed a supervisory role.

By attending this event, participants grant permission to Save the Graves to lawfully use photos and video in connection with this event for print or electronic publications or promotion, and grant Save the Graves all rights, royalties, or other benefits that may be earned from photos.
