Join us on Saturday, September 5th for a tour of 3 cemeteries in the Diamond Springs area. We’ll be visiting:
- Diamond Springs Cemetery.
- Diamond Springs IOOF Cemetery.
- Missouri Flat Cemetery.
Details:
Plan to arrive a few minutes before 10 am for check-in. You can park on Locust Rd. which runs parallel to Pleasant Valley Rd. (Highway 49). Heading east on Pleasant Valley Rd, turn left on China Garden Road and then left again on Locust Road. The IOOF cemetery is adjacent to the public Diamond Springs Cemetery. We’ll be visiting both.
Our third stop is Missouri Flat Cemetery. This is a small cemetery with about a dozen markers. It is an unmaintained, private cemetery. We are there at the invitation of the property owner. The weeds are high with stickers aplenty. There are also poison oak bushes, but they are clearly visible and avoidable.
NOTE: Mapping apps and Find A Grave say Missouri Flat Cemetery is located on Headington Rd EAST of Missouri Flat Road. This is INCORRECT. The cemetery is located at the far WEST end of Headington Road. To get there, take Missouri Flat Road 2/10ths of a mile north of US 50. Turn LEFT (west) on Headington Road, just past the 7-11 store. Follow road behind the Below Five store until the road is blocked. Then turn left, then right into a remote unused parking lot. The cemetery is located directly south of the remote lot, on a knoll about 30 feet above the parking lot.
Tour is suitable for all ages.
