Event Details

For those of you who missed last year’s tour, here’s your chance to catch up.

Join us on Saturday, January 24th for a tour of lesser known, really cool Placerville cemeteries. We’ll be visiting six cemeteries: the Methodist Episcopal Federated Church, Placerville Old City, Saint Patrick’s, Uppertown, Pioneer Jewish Cemetery and the Pest House.

After you signup, we’ll send directions, a full itinerary and the map. We’ll also send a confirmation the day before. If the weather looks really bad, we’ll reschedule, most likely to Sunday afternoon, January 25.

Details:
This is a car caravan tour… along some of the steepest, narrowest, most interesting streets the City of Placerville has to offer. These are tiny places you would never (and should never) go without a destination at the end of the road. These little cemeteries are that destination, each a historic gem, most in beautiful old neighborhoods that take great pride in “their cemetery.” Hopefully we’ll meet some neighbors and learn what it’s like having an old cemetery next door.

Before we start we’ll badger you all to team up and carpool, as parking is tight in some of these neighborhoods. If you are not comfortable driving on steep, narrow roads, let us know and we’ll find you a spot in someone’s back seat.

No cost to attend. Tour is suitable for all ages.

Bring:
Cemetery questions, warm clothes, sturdy shoes, raincoat and/or umbrella.

Optional lunch afterward. Tried the Indian Pizza place in downtown Placerville yet? It’s pretty darn good…big menu. Salad bar.
