Interpretive Signs

Old cemeteries leave a lot of unanswered questions. Good interpretive signs make old cemeteries understandable. Topics range from biographies of notable deceased to Victorian headstone symbology and 19th century headstone carvers. In 2023, Save the Graves installed over 25 interpretive signs in Placerville Union Cemetery. Several new interpretive signs were installed in Placerville Union Cemetery in 2024 including the history of the Grand Army of the Republic which was part of a Veteran’s Project.
